Meet Michael Purdy, Deputy General Counsel at Upside, and read about what he loves about his team and working at Upside.

Q: What brought you to Upside? 

Michael: After years in Big Tech, I wanted to go to a dynamic environment where I was helping build a product I believe in. That was Upside. 

Q: How did you get into technology law? 

Michael: I worked at a major international law firm, and discovered I was passionate about the technology sector. I moved in-house, first working in satellites, then at Google, now at Upside. I’ve done all manner of legal work in tech, including deal work, product counseling, regulatory work, policy work, and litigation. It’s been a terrific journey. 

Q: What’s the day-to-day of your role like? 

Michael: I work with a really creative and capable team of business leaders who are always thinking about new ways that partnerships and product approaches can grow the company. It’s creative work and very rewarding. 

Q: What do you love most about the culture at Upside? 

Michael: Ownership. We are all invested in serving our customers and end users. 

Q: What are your hobbies outside of work? 

Michael: I like to cook, watch my kids play sports, and I play music from time to time. When it comes to watching sports, I follow the UVa Wahoos and DC sports teams (unfortunately). 

Q: Wrapping it up… what does your perfect weekend look like? 

Michael: Friends, family, dogs, wine, good food, music, and nowhere to be.
